Holeberry for MAC

Free, open-source menu bar app to monitor and control your Pi-hole on Mac: check stats, pause blocking on a timer and unblock the tab you are on.

Holeberry Overview

Holeberry is a native menu bar app for people who run Pi-hole, the network-wide ad blocker. It puts your Pi-hole on the Mac menu bar, so you can check blocking status and query stats, pause blocking, and handle blocked domains without opening the Pi-hole web interface. The menu bar icon shows your Pi-hole's health at all times, and the menu shows total queries and blocked domains. When a page fails to load because Pi-hole blocked it, Holeberry detects the current tab in Safari, Orion, Chrome and Chromium browsers, Firefox, Zen and others, and unblocks that exact domain with one click, so the rest of your network stays protected.

You can manage up to two Pi-hole instances, and every action applies to both at once. Holeberry is free and open source under the MIT License. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, keeps passwords in the macOS Keychain, and needs macOS 14 or later. You do need your own Pi-hole reachable from your Mac, on the local network or elsewhere: Holeberry does not block anything by itself. It supports Pi-hole v6 and v5, though the developer notes v5 is not fully tested. Version 1.2.0 adds automatic Gravity updates and fixes for macOS 27.

  • macOS 27 fixes: menu bar icons and Firefox-family tab unblocking are back.
  • 7 more browsers supported for tab unblocking.
  • Plain-HTTP Pi-hole hosts outside your LAN now connect, such as Tailscale MagicDNS names.
